The story of Starkad survived into 19th century JΓ€mtland (northern Sweden). It says in this newspaper article that he was a jotun with four arms and that he and another jotun went to catch salmon at a river and that Starkad used his hands. Also that Starkad drowned the other jotun so he could steal his wife but the giantess commited suicide when she found out her husband was dead. Starkad was killed by thunder (Thor) and after he died a huge pine tree grew from his grave.
