🪙 Tether addresses $102 million agricultural investment: land is "crucial asset class"

The latest business that caught the eye—and the capital— of Tether, issuer of the world's largest stablecoin and the most valuable company in crypto, has been revealed. Between July 29 and August 16 of this year, Tether's investment division purchased shares worth about $102 million in South America-based agricultural giant Adecoagro SA, which trades on the Nasdaq stock exchange as AGRO, filings show.

💰 Bitcoin falls below $54k as market sees volatility following jobs data

Bitcoin tumbled below $54,000 on Friday after initially climbing to $57,000 earlier in the day following the release of a key US jobs report. As of press time, the flagship crypto was trading at $54,100 after touching a low of $53,780 and had yet to establish a local bottom for the day, based on CryptoSlate data.

🟠 CZ permanently barred from any involvement in managing Binance, retains voting rights

Binance has confirmed that its co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) is permanently barred from managing the crypto exchange. While initial reports suggested CZ could return to Binance after three years, CEO Richard Teng clarified to Axios that the ban was permanent. This prevents Zhao from ever resuming a leadership role at the platform.

💰 Bitcoin short-term holders' unrealized losses emerge as market weak spot: Glassnode

The average new bitcoin investor is holding an unrealized loss, which could lead to substantial sell-side pressure in the event of a further market correction, analysts at Glassnode said in a report published Wednesday. Although the total unrealized losses among all bitcoin holder cohorts remain historically low, this week's Glassnode report said short-term holders are an exception and could face significant market pressure.

💰 SEC Warns FTX Over Legality of Crypto Asset Distribution in Chapter 11 Plan

The FTX bankruptcy saga is moving along, with creditors now faced with the choice of pursuing claims through either the Bahamas or U.S. processes. Most customers are on track to get their full money back, plus an extra 9% interest for the trouble. For those with smaller claims under $50,000, the process is set to be even quicker, with 98% of customers likely to see their full repayment within 60 days after court approval. As for the bigger distributions, they’re expected to start rolling out in late 2024 or early 2025.
