The Education Intern will assist the SPCA’s education team in planning and executing educational programmes and events for children. Key Responsibilities:

1. Event Planning and Execution:

- Assist in the planning and coordination of a flagship event for children, focusing on animal welfare and humane education.
- Contribute to the development of event activities, including games, workshops, and interactive sessions, ensuring they are engaging and age-appropriate.
- Help with logistical arrangements, such as venue setup, registration, and coordination with volunteers and vendors.

2. Programme Development

- Support the creation and rollout of educational programmes for children, including school visits, workshops, and holiday camps.
- Assist in designing curriculum materials, lesson plans, and educational resources that align with SPCA’s mission and goals.
- Research and gather information on effective educational strategies and materials to enhance programme content.

3. Administrative Support:

- Assist with administrative tasks related to education programmes, such as scheduling, coordinating with vendors and facilitators, and preparing materials.
- Provide on-site support during educational events, including assisting with setup, registration, and facilitating activities.
- Engage with children and parents, providing information and answering questions about animal welfare and SPCA’s programmes

Qualifications:

- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Education, Child Development, Communications, or a related field is advantageous but not a requirement.
- Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to SPCA’s mission.
- Experience or interest in working with children in an educational or recreational setting is preferred.
- Creative, enthusiastic, and able to engage young audiences.

The Animal Care Intern will work closely with the SPCA’s animal care team to provide daily care and support for the animals in our shelter. This internship offers hands-on experience in animal care, an opportunity to contribute to the development of best practices and training materials, and a chance to make a meaningful impact on animal welfare. The intern will assist in the daily operations of the shelter and support efforts to enhance the quality of care provided to the animals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Daily Animal Care:

- Assist with feeding, grooming, and providing enrichment activities for animals in the shelter.
- Help with the cleaning and maintenance of animal enclosures, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
- Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, reporting any concerns to the animal care staff.

- Provide input on strategies to enhance the physical and mental well-being of shelter animals.
- Participate in discussions and brainstorming sessions on ways to strengthen the overall care and welfare of animals.

4. Administrative and Other Duties:

- Maintain accurate records of daily care activities, including feeding schedules, medical treatments, and behavioural observations.
- Assist with inventory management, ensuring that supplies and equipment for animal care are adequately stocked.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the animal care team.

Qualifications:

- Currently pursuing studies in a related field, such as Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, Biology, or a related discipline is advantageous but not a requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Policy Research and Analysis:

- Analyse current animal welfare issues and trends, and provide recommendations on SPCA’s stance and strategic approach.
- Prepare reports and policy briefs on various animal welfare topics.

2. Advocacy Support:

- Assist in developing and drafting position statements, advocacy materials, and public awareness campaigns.
- Support the coordination and planning of advocacy initiatives and events, including public forums, workshops, and community outreach activities.
- Engage with relevant stakeholders to promote SPCA’s advocacy efforts.

3. Data Collection and Management:

- Gather and organise data related to animal welfare and cruelty cases, and other relevant metrics.
- Assist in maintaining and updating databases related to advocacy work and animal welfare issues.

4. Communications and Outreach:

- Contribute to the creation of content for SPCA’s website, social media platforms, newsletters, and other communication channels.
- Help prepare communications materials to raise awareness about animal welfare issues.

5. Administrative Support:

- Provide administrative assistance to the advocacy team, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and organising files.

Qualifications:

- Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in a related field, such as Animal Science, Environmental Studies, Law, Legal Studies, Public Policy, Sociology, Veterinary Sciences or Communications.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to the mission of the SPCA.
